Position Overview:
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist is responsible for executing standard and specialized MRI procedures. This role involves generating MR images of specified anatomical regions following established protocols and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts MR imaging examinations; gathers patient history; clarifies standard procedures and addresses patient inquiries.
- Under physician supervision, administers intravenous contrast agents and identifies complications, managing them appropriately.
- Coordinates scheduling of cases to align with other diagnostic examinations.
- Comfortably positions and transfers patients as needed.
- Ensures patient immobilization when necessary and adheres to MRI safety protocols.
- Maintains accurate documentation as required by professional standards and departmental policies.
Professional Expectations:
- Exhibits understanding of growth and development principles relevant to the patient demographic served, assessing and interpreting age-specific data to provide suitable care.
- Commits to safety for patients, visitors, and staff by adhering to safety regulations, understanding medical error impacts, and participating in safety education initiatives.
- Upholds established policies, objectives, quality assessments, and safety standards.
- Engages in professional development through educational programs, literature review, and workshops.
- Delivers exceptional service to all stakeholders; promotes teamwork and practices responsible resource management.
- Orders necessary supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Ensures cleanliness and organization of workspaces and patient areas.
General Requirements:
- Performs additional related duties as assigned.
- Supports the organization's compliance and privacy programs, safeguarding patient and operational information.
Physical and Working Conditions:
- Regularly stands and walks; occasionally sits, lifts, pushes, or pulls up to 50 lbs.
- May encounter occupational hazards and bloodborne pathogens.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in a relevant field is required.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
- Must possess the Registered Technologist-Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification from ARRT upon hire.
- Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire.
- Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program with MRI training is required upon hire.
