American Sign Language Expert for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Communication

We are seeking a highly skilled American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to join our team at Global Language System LLC. The successful candidate will work with clients in various settings, providing accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation services.
About the RoleThis is a full-time/contract position that requires flexible scheduling, including some remote work options. The ASL Interpreter will be responsible for conveying all cultural and linguistic information embedded in the target message, maintaining confidentiality, and communicating effectively using manual and oral methods of communication.
Key Responsibilities- Provide onsite, unclassified ASL/English receptive and expressive simultaneous interpretation in various settings.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information exchanged during interpreting situations.
- Communicate effectively by signing, orally, and in writing.
- Keep detailed and accurate records.
- Possess advanced, accurate voicing skills to mediate both culturally and linguistically from spoken English to American Sign Language (ASL) and from ASL to spoken English.
- Be familiar with the terminology and provisions of the American Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Possess skills in a broad range of general interpreting assignments.
- Possess a general knowledge of a variety of specialized vocabulary.
- National Interpreter Certification (NIC)
- Certificate of Interpretation (CI)
- Certificate of Transliteration (CT)
The estimated salary for this role is $50,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer flexible work arrangements, including remote work options, as well as opportunities for training and development.
