Position Overview:
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) plays a crucial role in evaluating and managing the care of selected patients within the specified service area.

The ANP conducts comprehensive physical assessments, engages with patients both in-person and through digital platforms, collaborates with colleagues to ensure seamless patient care in alignment with established quality standards, and contributes to the overall coordination of patient services.

The ANP reports directly to the Chief of the designated service and the Department Manager.

Key Responsibilities:


Operates under the established protocols for the ANP role, adhering to Kaiser Permanente policies and the regulations set forth by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Performs thorough age-appropriate evaluations of patients, including detailed history-taking and physical examinations as per departmental guidelines.


Conducts systematic assessment and data collection, focusing on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive aspects; emphasizes patient and family education, involvement, and advocacy.

Consults with supervising physicians or other healthcare professionals as required based on patient needs and assessment results.


Collaborates with physicians and other clinicians to ensure effective patient care that meets quality benchmarks for those treated in the designated service.

Reviews patient medical records for follow-up or ordering of diagnostic tests in accordance with established protocols.


Maintains effective communication with other healthcare providers and departments to enhance operational efficiency and promote continuity of care.

Fosters strong working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and their families, respecting staff rights and cultural and ethical values.

Delegates tasks appropriately and coordinates the responsibilities of healthcare team members, assessing the effectiveness of care provided by team members.

Exhibits knowledge of and adheres to safety protocols as outlined by the institution. Responds effectively in emergency situations by following established procedures, remaining composed, notifying relevant personnel, and documenting occurrences.

Takes responsibility and accountability for personal professional practice. Actively participates in staff development initiatives for unit and departmental personnel.

Demonstrates understanding of legal considerations, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all facets of patient care and unit operations.

Engages in unit and departmental Performance Improvement initiatives. Participates in nursing research activities as needed. Identifies and resolves issues effectively.

Embraces a service-oriented philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team. Displays proficiency in utilizing computer systems and telecommunication tools to document, track, and communicate information.

If functioning in a specialized role, meets the expectations set for that specific position.

Undertakes other related responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience

At least 6 months of experience as a nurse practitioner.


One (1) year of experience within the last 3 years as a NP providing care in family planning, perinatal care, and menopause management.

Education

Master's Degree in Nursing (unless previously employed by Kaiser Permanente prior to the California Business and Professions Code requirement effective January 1, 2008)

Completion of a master's program in Adult NP, Family Practice NP, or Women's Health NP is mandatory.

Licensure, Certification, Registration

Nurse Practitioner Certificate (California)

Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number (California)

Registered Nurse License (California)

National Provider Identifier required upon hire

Basic Life Support certification

Nurse Practitioner National Certification

Additional Requirements:
Must fulfill credentialing criteria established for nurse practitioners within the Kaiser system (Master's Degree in Nursing and National Certification from one of the following organizations: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses.)

Candidates must meet the requirements to apply for PTAN (Provider Transaction Account Number) at the time of hire and submit an application within 30 days of hire.
