The Automotive Service Consultant role offers a competitive compensation structure that includes a Base Hourly Wage ranging from $16.00 to $17.05. Additionally, this position may provide commission earnings based on the volume of successful sales, with no upper limit, alongside potential production bonuses tied to individual or team performance, also without a fixed cap.

Position Overview

The Automotive Service Consultant acts as the key intermediary between service clients and the dealership, ensuring that both the dealership's and the customers' needs are effectively communicated and met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers promptly and ascertain their service requirements accurately.
  • Assess and confirm customer service requests, documenting them along with relevant vehicle and customer details on the service order while reviewing the vehicle's service history.
  • Conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle during the service order initiation, including a complete walk-around, expected service time, and damage assessment, ensuring that all requested repairs and services are executed correctly upon completion.
  • Prepare preliminary estimates in accordance with industry guidelines.
  • Create service orders and develop repair estimates, effectively marketing labor, parts, and accessories.
  • Coordinate repair schedules to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Communicate customer concerns accurately and provide a detailed description of issues.
  • Ensure that Multi-Point Inspection (MPI) sheets are properly completed to facilitate sales.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers regarding the progress of their vehicle service, documenting the timeline of events.
  • Be available during vehicle pickup times to address customer inquiries, explain any additional repairs needed, and schedule follow-up service appointments.
  • Verify that quality control inspections have been conducted and signed off by the Shop Foreman and Advisor, and contact customers to arrange pickup times.
  • Utilize professional phone etiquette, leaving only callback information when messaging customers.
  • Conduct or facilitate the delivery of customers' vehicles via phone or in-person.
  • Avoid confrontations with customers regarding Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) scores.
  • Stay informed about state and federal regulations concerning automobile repair and consumer protection.
  • Adhere to the work schedule, arriving on time and being actively engaged at the start of the shift.
  • Protect customer and dealership information according to established policies.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and utilize appropriate safety and personal protective equipment as required.
  • Follow the established dress code policy consistently.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
