Job Summary

Ribbon Communications is seeking a skilled Hardware/Software Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing hardware/cabling/software specifications and drawing documents to support the implementation and integration of assigned projects.

This role involves working closely with customers to understand their desired solutions and ensuring that all criteria and deliverables are clearly understood. You will create detailed material lists for orders, configure equipment based on Ribbon guidelines and standards, and identify potential impacts and risks to current configurations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with customers to review project scope details and gather necessary information
  • Create detailed specifications and drawings required for hardware and software provisioning
  • Identify and explore potential impacts and risks to current configurations
  • Solution validation - ensure configuration details meet or exceed customer requirements
  • Review and follow existing documentation as applicable
  • Provide project support through services completion

Deliverables

  • Early Job Conference (EJC) - customer meeting to review scope details and request customer-related inputs
  • Customer Information (CI) - customer meeting to gather, review, and agree on final engineering inputs for the project
  • Hardware & Cabling Specs - create specs and drawings for inputs to downstream processes
  • Identify and order required software via Ribbon tools and processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years' experience creating hardware/software specifications and drawings
  • Experience configuring equipment in complex networks/solutions
  • Self-motivated individuals able to learn quickly
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively work with others
  • Candidates must be driven to achieve results while maintaining deadlines
  • Unix/Linux/Solaris knowledge and skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
