Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department, adhering to established infection control practices. This role also involves preparing surgical case carts, ensuring all items are processed in a timely manner, and maintaining clean and organized work areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decontaminate and sterilize medical instruments and equipment, following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Prepare and assemble surgical case carts, ensuring all necessary items are included and properly labeled.
  • Perform tray assemblage accurately, following count sheets and ensuring all items are properly packaged and labeled for sterilization.
  • Operate and maintain sterilizers and other equipment, performing routine inspections and cleaning as needed.
  • Verify and document sterilizing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to customer requests and issues, providing prompt and positive service.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training, staying up-to-date on the latest protocols and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a sterile processing technician preferred.
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (CSPDT) within 1 year required or Certified in Sterile Processing Management (CSPM).
