Job Summary

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a highly skilled Security Officer I to join our team. As a Security Officer I, you will be responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, employees, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to monitor the facility and activity, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all.
  • Participate in pre-shift and post-shift briefings to stay current on recent security events and incidents.
  • Document daily activity and security responses through a thorough and complete daily activity log.
  • Respond to emergency situations, investigate suspicious activity, and take appropriate action as directed by Security Department supervisory personnel.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve security-related incidents, reporting abuses of hospital equipment or property to the proper authority.
  • Conduct regular security checks/audits of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health properties and grounds during non-business hours.
  • Monitor all hospital premises, grounds, and parking facilities for security concerns and potential safety hazards.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must complete the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Basic Certification Program within one year of employment.
  • Must possess a valid State driver's license.
  • Must complete PPCI PATH, OCAT, and Defensive Tactics within six months of employment.
  • Must complete Crisis Prevention Institution (CPI) Level 4 - Advanced Physical Skills training within six months of employment.
  • Must complete basic CPR/AED certification within six months of employment.
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people from many diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to function effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instructions, atlases, and encyclopedias.
  • Ability to prepare memoranda, reports, and essays using proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
  • Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis, correct pronunciation, and variation in word order.
