Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Physician to join our team at the VA San Diego Healthcare System's Oceanside Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). This is an exciting opportunity for a physician who is passionate about providing high-quality primary care services in a patient-centered environment.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive care to a panel of patients with a wide range of medical conditions. The role will involve evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and providing consultation for non-surgical adult patients of all ages. The physician will also be responsible for assessing, stabilizing, and determining the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluating and managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
  • Providing preventive health services, including routine check-ups and health screenings.
  • Collaborating with mid-level providers, such as nurse practitioners, to provide comprehensive care.
  • Working collaboratively with other specialties and subspecialties within the VA system to manage or co-manage patient care.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must have a strong track record of providing high-quality primary care services. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment. A Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school is required, along with completion of a residency program in internal medicine or a related field.
