Position Summary:
The Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Technician (EMMT) is tasked with performing essential electrical and mechanical upkeep and repair of utility apparatus, facilities, and surroundings at the Reading Municipal Light Department.
Essential Qualifications
Education:
A High School Diploma or equivalent, coupled with technical experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance and repair. Familiarity with basic carpentry, painting, and cleaning tasks is necessary.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years in electrical and mechanical maintenance, with additional expertise in a skilled trade area such as HVAC, carpentry, electrical work, or plumbing.
Skills and Competencies:
The EMMT must possess the ability to understand specifications, communicate effectively, and utilize basic office software. Knowledge of safety protocols, maintenance procedures, and fundamental painting techniques is crucial.
Physical Demands:
The individual must be capable of undertaking strenuous physical labor both indoors and outdoors, lifting or relocating heavy equipment, and working under varying weather conditions.
Licenses and Certifications:
A valid MA Class B CDL license is mandatory, along with other pertinent certifications related to equipment operation and safety compliance.
Compensation:
The starting salary is $38.53 per hour.
