We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer Intern to join our team at Raytheon Technologies. As a key member of our design team, you will work closely with experienced engineers to develop and improve the design of conventional and additively manufactured heat exchangers for aerospace applications.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the design and development of mechanical products and systems, including mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer systems.
- Participate in product development activities, including cost estimates, implementation of standard specifications, drawing board layout, and development of performance or maintenance requirements.
- Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components, and produce parts, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems, or work orders/purchase requests.
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or other applicable discipline.
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here.
- A minimum of 2 years college/university studies completed in pursuit of an Engineering degree.
- Experience in 2D and 3D CAD tools, including UG NX, CATIA, or equivalent.
- Use of finite element modeling tools, such as Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran, or equivalent.
- Experience in Python, Unix, Matlab, VB, FORTRAN, or other programming languages is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing definition and tolerances.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication, brazing, and welding techniques.
- Demonstrated success working independently and within a team environment and is self-motivated.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Be proficient with MS Office applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel.
