Berkshire Meadows is seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities, including routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the maintenance of the physical plant, including routine painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, appliance repair, heating repairs, general repairs, furniture setup, moving, landscaping, snow removal, and pool maintenance.
  • Assist in the performance of tasks to ensure the maintenance of facility HVAC systems under the guidance of the Maintenance Engineer.
  • Assist in the maintenance of division safety equipment, building features, emergency power equipment, grounds, buildings, and systems to meet safety standards of licensing entities and state and local regulating entities.
  • Assist in the maintenance of all program maintenance vehicles.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the maintenance and testing of safety and emergency power equipment.
  • Assist in the management of hazardous materials and maintenance equipment within DDS, DCF, JRI, DPH, and Joint Commission safety guidelines.

Requirements:
  • Applicants must have a High School diploma or GED.
  • Applicants with experience in general facility maintenance, janitorial, landscaping, or related fields are preferred.
  • Good organizational skills with an attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be 21 or older, a valid driver's license, and a high school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Must be able to pass background and driving record checks.
  • Must be able to work alone unsupervised.
  • All new employees will be required to provide proof within 6 weeks of hire that they are fully vaccinated against COVID.
