Position Overview

This faculty role reports to the Section Chief of Nephrology and is integral to the Division of Internal Medicine.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties (80%)

Provide expert clinical management in patient care, demonstrating outstanding analytical skills to assess medical issues and advise patients on improving their health. This role requires a compassionate approach to interacting with cancer patients and their families.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive patient history and physical examinations.
  • Communicating effectively with fellow physicians regarding patient care.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate documentation in medical records.
  • Practicing internal medicine and medical oncology according to established standards.
  • Developing a consultative practice for referrals to the center.
  • Coordinating consultations with other medical professionals.

Administrative Duties (5%)

Participate in institutional committees and meetings, providing feedback and reviewing relevant documents as needed.

Research Engagement (10%)

Actively participate in clinical research and scholarly activities to foster an academic environment. This includes:

  • Developing and executing research aligned with departmental goals.
  • Instructing research personnel in protocol implementation.

Education and Teaching (5%)

Deliver a comprehensive educational program in Nephrology and Onco-Nephrology for medical fellows and residents. Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging in teaching conferences and educational activities.
  • Serving as a role model for students and colleagues.
  • Sharing knowledge gained from external conferences.

Required:

  • MD degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of residency training in an approved program.
  • Clinical fellowship in Nephrology with board certification.
  • Current medical licensure in Texas.

Recommended:

  • Certification in CPR or advanced life support.
