The University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team.

About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate healthcare professional to provide high-quality patient care and medical management for critically ill newborns and their families. As an ARNP/PA in our NICU, you will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care, exercise autonomy in medical decision-making, and contribute to the development of our unit's clinical practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess patient health status through history taking, physical examination, and laboratory studies
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management and procedural interventions
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, promoting health literacy and self-advocacy
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • Current RN license from the State of Iowa (ARNP) or PA licensure from the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners
  • 1-3 years of experience in Neonatology or Pediatric Critical Care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Level III/VI NICU experience
  • Published articles or clinical presentations in Neonatology or Pediatric Critical Care
  • Experience with medical management and procedural interventions in an inpatient setting
