Position Overview

As the IT Infrastructure Operations Manager, you will take charge of the technical architecture, strategic planning, execution, and optimization of high-performance systems critical to enterprise operations. You will act as a subject matter expert in system administration for intricate operating environments. Your role includes recommending enhancements and configurations for operating systems and applications. You will assess the feasibility of system requirements and create detailed specifications. Your leadership will guide the identification of solutions, ensuring project management delivers exceptional service and reliability to the organization.

Your responsibilities will encompass leading a team to align project deadlines and service expectations with organizational objectives. This includes providing technical guidance for complex systems, managing daily support requests, tracking team performance through metrics, and communicating overall progress to upper management.

Position Location:

This role is designed for remote work within the Continental US.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages open communication;
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for the team;
  • Delegate responsibilities and set project timelines;
  • Oversee daily operational activities;
  • Track team performance and report on key metrics;
  • Inspire and motivate team members;
  • Identify training needs, provide coaching, and advocate for career development;
  • Manage all aspects of a virtualized Microsoft and Linux server enterprise-class data center;
  • Develop implementation plans for new systems and applications, including custom scripts and testing protocols to ensure operational reliability;
  • Train technical staff on new software and hardware solutions;
  • Diagnose, analyze, and resolve system issues related to server hardware, operating systems, and application software;
  • Ensure proper implementation of system changes across all affected servers and workstations, troubleshooting any related issues;
  • Continuously monitor system performance;
  • Conduct system backups and recovery procedures;
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot VMware technologies including vCenter, vSphere Replication, and Site Recovery Manager;
  • Establish guidelines for the installation and management of operating systems, disk arrays, networking components, and other critical infrastructure;
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Active Directory, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and IIS;
  • Oversee company-wide storage systems;
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Storage Area Networks;
  • Ensure optimal disk I/O performance and capacity planning;
  • Administer telecommunication systems as required;
  • Manage systems supporting telecommunication software;
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system and server administration;
  • Provide user support, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues;
  • Conduct training sessions for various IT systems;
  • Regularly review IT systems and recommend enhancements;
  • Evaluate purchasing options and provide recommendations for IT products and cost-effective pricing;
  • Ensure the security and maintenance of the server computing environment;
  • Meet established performance standards and expectations.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Experience:

  • Over 10 years of experience in managing all components of a distributed virtualized enterprise-class data center environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strategic and proactive thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage timelines effectively.
  • Capacity to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of personnel.
  • Advanced knowledge of various computer and networking software and hardware systems.
  • Proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining personal computers, servers, networks, and associated hardware and software.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Ability to analyze server/network architecture requirements and propose optimal solutions.
  • Skill in communicating technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Capacity planning skills for computer/network resources.
  • Proven experience in managing Windows/Linux data center environments.
  • Solid experience in application stack administration and performance tuning.
  • Significant expertise in operating system virtualization.
  • Experience with monitoring systems.
  • Ability to mentor and guide team members.
  • Capability to architect, design, and implement complex data center systems and applications.
