Role Summary:

The Infrastructure Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in overseeing various initiatives within the Technology Infrastructure division of a sophisticated financial institution. This team specializes in managing a distributed architecture framework that supports critical J2EE internet and intranet applications. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in technical infrastructure management and engineering, complemented by hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement web-based application server architectures (Weblogic Server/Portal) within a UNIX environment.
  • Diagnose intricate application integration challenges and collaborate with virtual team members across the organization to deliver advanced J2EE hosting solutions.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects while demonstrating adaptability to evolving requirements. The candidate should be self-driven, exhibit strong leadership qualities, influence peers effectively, and approach challenges with creativity.
  • Work closely with application teams to deploy new applications in the Weblogic hosting environments, gathering configuration requirements and facilitating necessary adjustments with administrators and vendors to resolve technical issues.
  • Provide on-call support and maintain flexible working hours as required.
  • Engage daily with customers (application and testing teams) to offer Middleware and Java support; act as a J2EE architect, recommending best practices in application development; design Middleware infrastructure and topology for high availability and failover; provide technical guidance to team members; communicate with business partners at an enterprise level; and interface with internal and external stakeholders throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent field experience, with a minimum of 8-10 years supporting Middleware products such as WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat, IBM HTTP Server, Apache, and similar technologies.
  • Extensive experience with J2EE in large-scale enterprise systems.
  • Proficient in scripting languages including Jython, Python, YAML, and Perl.
  • Experience in Middleware administration using tools like mDeliver, Blade Logic, etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for Middleware products utilizing various diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with peripheral systems (networking, load balancing, application development, operating systems) and monitoring systems (e.g., Splunk, Introscope, Sitescope).
  • Knowledge of industry-standard security baselines.
  • Ability to create documentation for troubleshooting, performance optimization, and remediation processes.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to both business and technical management.
  • Understanding of IT Service Management frameworks.
