Position Title: Senior Preconstruction Estimator (Electrical)

Location: Edison, NJ

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Estimator with extensive experience in medium voltage substations, distribution systems, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, and data centers. This role is crucial in helping our Edison, NJ operations achieve strategic objectives and may involve collaboration with project management on specific initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate precise estimates for electrical power, lighting, and low voltage systems.
  • Utilize expertise in electrical and low voltage estimating methodologies.
  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs for electrical systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive estimates by assigning material and labor costs to take-offs.
  • Source vendor pricing for specialized materials and equipment.
  • Participate in estimate reviews and track cost trends versus final estimates.
  • Assist in evaluating subcontractor and vendor pricing and scope.
  • Engage in the preparation and review of contract modifications and change orders.
  • Contribute to project kick-off and turnover meetings.
  • Occasional travel to field locations may be required.
  • Maintain regular and reliable onsite attendance as a core job function.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in estimating electrical construction projects.
  • Preferred: Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited institution.
  • Proven experience in electrical power and lighting systems, particularly in medium voltage substations and distribution.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in both hard-bid contract work and conceptual estimating.
  • Familiarity with ConEst estimating software is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include the ability to sit, see, talk, and hear. Regular use of hands for handling tools and controls is required. Employees must be able to walk and reach with hands and arms, and specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

This role involves working at a desk for extended periods and traveling to construction sites as necessary. Employees may encounter outdoor conditions, including exposure to weather elements and potential hazards associated with construction environments.
