Job Title: Construction Safety and Health Officer

Markon is seeking a highly skilled Construction Safety and Health Officer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and health of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and assess construction contractor safety programs to ensure compliance with OBO safety and health requirements.
  • Provide advice and direction to OBO/Project Director on developing and implementing the Injury/Illness Prevention Program.
  • Direct and coordinate the participation of OBO, the General Contractor, and Post within the program, and create/modify safety policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities, worksites, equipment, work practices, and safety devices to ensure compliance with required workplace safety standards and regulations.
  • Oversee and monitor contractor compliance with safety and health provisions of the construction contract.
  • Ensure that qualified, competent persons have been designated at the project site to conduct scheduled sanitation and health inspections of food service, mess facilities, toilets, washrooms, and change areas.
  • Apply procedures and guidelines to eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment, and machine operations that may lead to injury of persons and/or damage to property.
  • Provide advice to avoid construction accidents.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of emergency evacuation plans in case of fire or other emergencies.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; maintain proper documentation to conform to OSHA record-keeping requirements.
  • Investigate serious accidents and/or incidents of injury or property damage at worksites to ascertain cause and need for corrective action, developing and implementing measures and strategies to prevent their recurrence.
Requirements:
  • Engineering, architecture, or construction management degree from an accredited university in the United States.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience required on construction projects of similar scope and dollar value.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
  • Overseas experience is preferred.
  • Professional Engineering registration is preferred.
  • Must have an active Secret clearance before deploying.
  • Knowledge of International Codes required.
  • Knowledge of Construction Safety regulations, i.e. EM 385-1-1, OSHA, etc.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, and Word required.
Salary Range:

USD $130,000.00 - USD $135,000.00 /Yr.

The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
