Job Overview

Position: Information System Security Officer (ISSO)

We are looking for a proactive and motivated individual to enhance our information security initiatives.

The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) acts as the primary consultant on all aspects of system security. The ISSO is tasked with ensuring the application and upkeep of security measures in line with the security framework and applicable security regulations.

Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, availability required from 8am to 5pm

Compensation: $135,000 to $140,000 annually

Location: Washington, DC Metropolitan area (remote work options may be available)

Qualifications:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a DHS security clearance.
  • CISSP certification is required.
  • A bachelor's degree is mandatory.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience within the last seven (7) years is necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, coordination, implementation, and enforcement of information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies.
  • Maintain the operational security posture for an information system or program to ensure adherence to security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Assist in managing security components of the information system and conduct daily security operations.
  • Assess security solutions to confirm they fulfill security requirements for handling classified information.
  • Conduct vulnerability and risk assessment analyses to facilitate certification and accreditation processes.
  • Provide configuration management (CM) for information system security software, hardware, and firmware.
  • Oversee modifications to the system and evaluate the security implications of those changes.
  • Prepare and review documentation including Systems Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, Certification and Accreditation (C&A) packages, and System Requirements Traceability Matrices (SRTMs).
  • Exhibit effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

A background check is necessary to obtain a security clearance.
