At CoreCivic, our mental health professionals are dedicated to making a significant impact in the lives of individuals in correctional facilities, as we establish the benchmarks for care within the sector. CoreCivic is actively seeking Clinical Psychologists who are committed to delivering exceptional care in a correctional environment.
The ideal candidate will be capable of executing ALL of the following responsibilities at a pace and level of performance that aligns with the actual job performance expectations.
  1. Conduct psychological evaluations and assessments through the analysis of available documentation and clinical interviews with inmates.
  2. Collaborate with a mental health team, engaging with other clinical personnel, such as psychiatrists, mental health service providers, medical staff, nurses, social workers, and security personnel, to collect and share insights regarding inmate psychological issues, ensuring that treatment efforts are cohesive and that patient care is effectively managed.
  3. Deliver therapeutic services to inmates by creating, executing, and adjusting individualized treatment plans based on assessed needs and functioning levels.
  4. Perform regular assessments in segregation or other restricted housing units to evaluate inmate adaptation and mental health treatment requirements.
  5. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of psychological counseling principles and methodologies through the application of treatments and activities tailored for individuals in the caseload.
  6. Provide suitable mental health evaluations, counseling, and crisis intervention strategies to meet the needs of inmates experiencing distress.
  7. Consult with psychiatry, mental health, nursing, medical, educational, chaplaincy, and security staff, as necessary, to gather insights and understanding regarding the escalation of problematic behaviors and shifts in the mental health status of inmates.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Must hold a current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the relevant state.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience, including at least one year in a similar role.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
