We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Data Science PhD Researcher to join our team at Capital One.

This is a 10-week full-time paid internship in Data Science from June through August 2025, providing an excellent opportunity to apply your skills in a real-world setting.

As a Data Science PhD Researcher, you will be responsible for evaluating open-source and internally-developed modeling and analytics tools, integrating internal data with external data sources, and designing and crafting data science models.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • ">
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of various data analysis tools and techniques;">
  • Designing and implementing data-driven solutions to complex business problems;">
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy machine learning models;">
  • Providing expert-level technical guidance and support to junior team members;">

The salary for this role is $181,000 - $181,000 per year, depending on location.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a PhD in Data Science or a related field;">
  • At least 6 months of experience or academic work using open source programming languages for data analysis;">
  • At least 6 months of experience or academic work using machine learning techniques;">
  • At least 6 months of experience with either Python, R, or SQL;">
