Key Responsibilities

  • Experience Required: Successful completion of job-specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months of relevant experience or completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program.
  • Experience Desired: Previous experience in a Bakery or similar environment.
  • Education Desired: No High School diploma required.
  • Lifting Requirement: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Execute bench work following established scratch procedures when necessary.
  • Prepare and shape products according to specifications based on scratch recipes.
  • Bake products using the appropriate time and temperature as dictated by recipes.
  • Prepare Bakery items in accordance with established recipes, including scratch recipes.
  • Properly manage product insertion into proof boxes, setting controls to ensure correct size and shape.
  • Prepare and fry donuts following established guidelines.
  • Manage product storage in freezers to maintain freshness.
  • Provide assistance to customers by answering inquiries and resolving issues to meet their needs.
  • Demonstrate effective suggestive selling techniques and offer samples when suitable.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting patrons and assisting them in locating desired products.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of work for Team Members, customers, and products.
  • Bake prepared and scratch products for display cases, ensuring proper rotation and adherence to code dating procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, work surfaces, and utensils to comply with safety and sanitation standards.
  • Accurately document special orders for Bakery products to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation protocols, including emergency procedures and proper housekeeping.
  • Understand the ingredients and their purposes in the creation of scratch baked goods.
  • Assist in maintaining the efficiency of the Bakery backroom, cooler, and freezer by unloading deliveries.
  • Gather necessary baking ingredients in preparation for baking operations, including all scratch recipes.
  • Support other areas as needed.
