Position Overview
As a Construction Equipment Technician, you will engage in a multi-faceted role that involves performing mechanical duties on a variety of machinery and operational equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Execute assembly, adjustments, and maintenance tasks, including potential welding on diverse construction machinery such as internal combustion engines, air compressors, pumps, heavy earth-moving machinery, and paving tools.
  • Lubrication and Inspection: Conduct lubrication on oil, air, and fuel filtration systems, grease points, and utilize inspection techniques to identify abnormal conditions.
  • Overhaul Assistance: Support the complete overhaul of mechanisms that transfer engine horsepower to active effort, as well as assist in the overhaul of various air-cooled engines and their applications, including starters, generators, and voltage regulators.
  • Heavy Equipment Repair: Assist in the repair and overhaul of heavy machinery, including crawler and wheel tractors, portable cranes, brooms, front-end loaders, rollers, motor graders, compactors, pumps, and air compressors.
  • Field Work: Be prepared to work with day, night, or out-of-town crews to perform necessary repairs in the field and carry out preventive maintenance practices to enhance the service life of equipment.
  • Welding and Fabrication: Demonstrate the ability to weld and operate equipment such as saws, grinders, and presses.

Parts Knowledge:
Familiarity with heavy equipment parts, including parts catalogs, procurement, handling, storage, and cost management.

Professionalism:
Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor with colleagues, customers, and the public. Flexibility is essential for last-minute schedule changes, location shifts, and time of shift adjustments. Overtime and out-of-town work may be required.

Initiative:
Exhibit a proactive approach to assist with various roles to ensure job completion.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Possession of personal tools necessary for the role.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with heavy machinery.
