Under the guidance of the Aquatic Director, the Aquatics Specialist is responsible for monitoring swimmers, ensuring safety, preventing accidents, enforcing facility regulations, and performing related duties as required. This role is crucial in providing a safe, enjoyable, and engaging experience for all participants.

The mission of The Salvation Army is to create a safe, enriching environment where individuals can pursue their physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual growth. The Chicago Kroc Center aims to positively impact the community by promoting wellness, excellence, character development, and faith.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Interaction:
Engage with guests to ensure a pleasant experience, providing assistance and answering inquiries as needed. - Facility Oversight:
Supervise daily aquatics activities and maintain cleanliness in all areas of the facility. - Equipment Management:
Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of all aquatic equipment, reporting any issues promptly. - Safety Protocols:
Maintain a safe environment by addressing and reporting any unsafe conditions immediately. - Emergency Response:
Coordinate actions during emergencies and ensure all incidents are documented accurately. - Swim Team Leadership:
Provide instruction in accordance with established guidelines and support the swim team during practices and competitions. - Collaboration:
Work cooperatively with other staff members and management to enhance program effectiveness.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma is preferred, along with experience in lifeguarding or a similar role. Candidates must possess current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguard Training, with a Water Safety Instruction Certification (WSI) required.
Competencies:
Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in swimming, effective communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with children and families in a supportive manner.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves light to heavy physical activity, including the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings, requiring appropriate attire as directed by the Aquatics Director.
