Columbia Class Construction Support Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Support Engineer to join our team at General Dynamics Electric Boat. As a key member of our Columbia Class Construction Support Engineering team, you will play a critical role in supporting the construction of the Columbia Class submarines.
Key Responsibilities- Provide engineering oversight and assistance to trade personnel to ensure the safe and efficient completion of construction activities.
- Evaluate emergent shipyard issues and develop technically acceptable resolutions.
- Interpret design, drawing, and specification requirements to ensure compliance with design intent.
- Provide direction and evaluation to Groton trades via disposition of CNs and TIR UNSATs.
- Support final assembly, test, certification, and delivery activities for Columbia Class submarines.
- Provide surveillance of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material in the Groton shipyard.
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering evaluations to identify and implement process improvements.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer to the construction support engineering team and coordinate engagement of design and engineering SMEs in the construction sequence.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
- 2+ years of relevant experience is required.
- Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance or higher is required.
- Prior deck plate construction experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Electronic Desktop (7G, Work Orders, ELCADD, ERS, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Team Center (CR/CN experience) is highly desirable.
- Prior US Navy experience is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are required.
- Ability to work independently and interact with other groups and organizations in a team environment is required.
