Position Overview:
As a Building Code Enforcement Specialist, you will be responsible for upholding the regulations set forth in the Village's Land Development Code and associated ordinances.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Enforce, clarify, and interpret the Village's Code of Ordinances and Land Development Regulations, focusing on areas such as nuisance control, land clearing, grading, flood management, and zoning compliance.
2. Issue both verbal and written notifications regarding code infractions, expired permits, and citations for violations.
3. Assist in addressing intricate and sensitive customer service matters through various communication methods.
4. Maintain comprehensive records of customer service interactions and their resolutions.
5. Investigate issues and complaints related to commercial and residential properties, construction activities, and adherence to codes.
6. Prepare and present cases of Code Compliance to the Special Magistrate.
7. Contribute to the evaluation of development proposals for zoning adherence and conduct zoning inspections.
8. Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education:
Associate degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field such as urban planning, engineering, or architecture, along with three (3) years of experience in general construction or related sectors, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel), GIS, and AutoCAD.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Availability to work during emergency situations.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
- Non-smoker status is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to interpret architectural plans effectively.
- Capability to maintain a valid driver’s license in the State of Florida.
- Competence in multitasking and managing various responsibilities simultaneously.
- Strong independent working skills with sound judgment.
- Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact courteously with the public and colleagues.
