Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Cath Lab Manager and direct oversight of the PCC, the Radiologic Technologist will conduct patient assessments and related tasks. The role involves performing patient examinations in alignment with established protocols and assisting clinicians during procedures. Responsibilities include circulating in and out of the procedure room to gather necessary supplies and equipment, conducting hemodynamic monitoring, and maintaining accurate patient records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure comprehensive patient clinical histories are documented.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and accession procedures efficiently.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control procedures for imaging equipment and prepare required documentation.
  • Archive and finalize patient examinations, including starting IVs and administering contrast media.
  • Safely remove arterial and venous sheaths while adhering to sterile techniques to maintain a clean examination environment.
  • Participate in emergency call rotations as necessary.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in caring for patients across all age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Transport patients as required and manage supply orders and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in the training of student technologists when needed.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, visitors, and vendors, respecting their cultural and religious beliefs.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as delegated by management to ensure optimal patient care.

Performance Expectations:

  • Exhibit technical proficiency in performing specialized procedure exams, including positioning and understanding procedural preparation.
  • Adjust technical factors to achieve desired imaging results while recognizing and addressing potential complications.
  • Assist in all procedural roles, including operating x-ray equipment and monitoring hemodynamic data.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting skills for various Cath lab equipment.
  • Maintain strict sterile techniques and comply with infection control protocols.
  • Perform quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Document patient procedures accurately and ensure correct charge entry at the time of service.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and optimal departmental outcomes.
  • Implement radiation safety measures to minimize exposure.
  • Proficiently perform in the scrub role for basic Cath lab procedures.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited AMA school of radiologic technology is required.

Experience: One to two years in specialized imaging modalities is preferred.

Licensure:

  • Must be licensed with the MS Department of Health (MSRT).
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT R.T. (R) Radiography is required.

Additional Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support certification is required within the first month of employment.
  • Rhythm Strip Interpretation for Technologists is preferred within the first three months of employment.

The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, follow detailed instructions, demonstrate initiative, prioritize tasks, and perform effectively under pressure is essential.
