Position Overview:

Under the general guidance of the Cath Lab Manager and direct oversight of the Patient Care Coordinator (PCC), the Radiologic Technologist is responsible for conducting patient examinations and related tasks. The role involves performing imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols, assisting clinicians during procedures, and managing the flow of supplies and equipment as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient examinations while ensuring compliance with established protocols.
  • Assist medical professionals during procedures, including circulating in and out of the examination room to obtain necessary supplies.
  • Perform hemodynamic monitoring and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Ensure the completeness of the patient's clinical history and manage associated paperwork and accession procedures.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control procedures for imaging equipment and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Archive and finalize patient examinations, including starting IVs and administering contrast media.
  • Maintain sterile techniques and ensure a clean environment within the examination area.
  • Participate in emergency call rotations as required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in caring for patients across various age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Transport patients as necessary and order supplies when needed.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and assist in training student technologists.

Performance Expectations:

  • Exhibit technical proficiency in performing specialized imaging exams, including positioning and procedure preparation.
  • Adapt technical factors to achieve optimal imaging results while recognizing potential complications.
  • Assist in all procedures, including operating x-ray equipment and monitoring hemodynamic data.
  • Effectively troubleshoot and manage various Cath Lab equipment.
  • Uphold proper sterile techniques and comply with infection control protocols.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient procedures and charge entries.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment, contributing to a team-focused atmosphere.
  • Minimize radiation exposure through appropriate dosage adjustments and safety measures.
  • Proficiently perform in the scrub role for basic Cath Lab procedures.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited AMA school of radiologic technology.

Experience: One to two years in specialized imaging modalities preferred.

Licensure:

  • Licensed by the MS Department of Health (MSRT).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT R.T. (R) Radiography certification.

Additional Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support certification required within the initial employment period.
  • Rhythm Strip Interpretation for Technologists preferred within the initial employment period.

Mental Demands:

Ability to work effectively as part of a team, follow precise directions, demonstrate initiative, prioritize tasks, and perform under pressure.
