Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Cath Lab Manager and direct oversight of the PCC, the Radiologic Technologist will conduct patient examinations and associated tasks. The role involves performing patient assessments in line with established protocols and assisting clinicians during procedures. Responsibilities include circulating in and out of the procedure room to gather necessary supplies and equipment, managing hemodynamic monitoring activities, and maintaining comprehensive patient records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the patient's clinical history is thorough and complete.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and accession procedures accurately.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control procedures for imaging equipment, including PACS, and prepare required documentation.
  • Archive and finalize patient examinations, initiate IVs, and administer contrast media as needed.
  • Safely remove arterial and/or venous sheaths while adhering to sterile techniques.
  • Participate in emergency call rotations as required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in caring for patients across all age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Transport patients as necessary and manage supply orders and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in training student technologists when needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, and vendors, respecting their cultural and religious beliefs.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as delegated by management to ensure optimal patient care.

Performance Expectations:

Performance expectations will be outlined during the orientation and preceptorship phases of employment.

  • Exhibit technical aptitude in performing specialized procedure exams, focusing on positioning, physiology, and technical factors.
  • Adjust technical factors to achieve desired imaging results while recognizing and addressing complications and limitations.
  • Assist in all procedures, including operating x-ray equipment and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency with various Cath lab equipment, including EKG monitors and interventional devices.
  • Maintain sterile techniques and comply with infection control procedures.
  • Conduct quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Document patient procedures accurately and ensure correct charge entry at the time of service.
  • Foster a positive work environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to achieve departmental goals.
  • Minimize radiation exposure through dosage adjustments and appropriate shielding techniques.
  • Proficiently perform in the scrub role for all basic Cath lab procedures.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited AMA school of radiologic technology is required.

Experience: One to two years in specialized imaging modalities is preferred.

Licensure:

  • Licensed by the MS Department of Health (MSRT).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT R.T. (R) Radiography certification is required.

Additional Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of employment.
  • Rhythm Strip Interpretation for Technologists is preferred within 90 days of employment.

The ability to work as part of a team, follow precise directions, demonstrate initiative, prioritize tasks, and perform under pressure is essential.
