Key Responsibilities- Control Traffic: Safely control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones to ensure a smooth and efficient construction process.
- Clean and Prepare Construction Sites: Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
- Signal Equipment Operators: Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
- Load and Unload Materials: Load, unload, or identify building materials, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
- Measure and Mark Openings: Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.
- Dig and Backfill Excavations: Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using a variety of power and hand tools.
- Tend Pumps and Generators: Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment or to heat or move materials, such as dirt, gravel, and asphalt.
- Clean Tools and Equipment: Clean tools, equipment, and work areas to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
- Knowledge and Skills: Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions. Ability to work in a variety of roles. Knowledge of company safety policies and procedures.
- Education and Experience: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Three to six months related experience in field construction.
