School of Information Lecturer

We are seeking a highly qualified lecturer to join our faculty pool in the School of Information at San Jose State University. The successful candidate will teach in their area of specialty and contribute to the development of our curriculum.

• Teach courses in the School of Information's master's degree programs, including MLIS, MARA, and MS in Informatics.
• Develop and maintain a syllabus and course materials that align with the program's learning objectives.
• Hold office hours and provide support to students through regular communication and feedback.
• Participate in curriculum development and review to ensure alignment with program goals and accreditation standards.
• Contribute to the development of online course content and ensure effective teaching presence in our online classes.
• Organize classes within the Canvas Learning Management System and ensure accessibility compliance.
• Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials and teaching strategies.

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Professional or academic work experience.
• Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.

• Online teaching experience.

Anticipated starting salary:

L-A / Range 2 - $5007 - $5675L-B /Range 3 - $5925 - $7125
L-C / Range 4 - $6500 - $8982
L-D / Range 5 - $8184 - $9854

Range salaries above are the anticipated monthly salary rate of full-time AY faculty--part-time rates are prorated. There are 6 monthly payments per semester (full-time AY annual salary = rate x 12). See the Faculty Salary Schedule for more information.

Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. These provisions state the order in which available courses must be assigned to faculty, starting with tenure line faculty and ending with new lecturer appointees.
