Position Overview:
As a Senior Traffic Signal Operations Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing urban mobility through advanced traffic management solutions. You will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to optimizing traffic flow and ensuring the efficient operation of arterial roadways.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the performance of critical arterial roadways, ensuring optimal operational efficiency by establishing baseline conditions and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Lead a team of Traffic Operations Specialists/Engineers in analyzing and interpreting traffic data to implement effective signal timing enhancements.
  • Develop and refine signal timing plans in accordance with established protocols, including special event timing strategies for active arterial management.
  • Coordinate activities within the Traffic Management Center, managing responses to incidents and accommodating the data needs of various stakeholders.
  • Utilize advanced traffic management systems and tools to analyze signal operations, aiming for maximum throughput and safe arterial operations.
  • Engage in fieldwork to assess traffic conditions and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Prepare technical reports and correspondence to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification (or the ability to obtain within six months).
  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Field Technician Level II certification (or the ability to obtain within six months).
  • A minimum of five years of experience in transportation engineering with a focus on traffic analysis.
  • At least three years of experience in project management and staff supervision.
  • Proficiency in traffic engineering software such as Synchro, Sim Traffic, and VISSIM.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a solid understanding of state and federal transportation standards.
  • Familiarity with Florida DOT traffic operations processes is preferred.
