Job Summary

The Associate Project Manager (APM) plays a critical role in managing projects and proposals of medium complexity for the Power Delivery, Field Services, Construction Management, and System Studies practices in the Energy Sector. The APM may also be assigned to assist a Project Manager (PM) in the coordination of more complex projects and proposals in the Energy Sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project teams in the successful execution of projects of a medium complexity, acting as the primary project advocate and point of communication.
  • Assist Project Managers as the Assistant Project Manager in the successful execution of complex projects when assigned, acting as the primary support to the PM in the execution of project management deliverables.
  • Develop project proposals for projects of medium complexity and support Project Managers in complex project proposal development, including:
    • Ensuring a clear understanding by all disciplines of project scope and terms.
    • Facilitating the proposal development, including project execution plans, estimation, compilation, and on-time delivery, ensuring all requirements are met.
    • Facilitating a legal review by TRC Legal Staff prior to contract signing.
    • Facilitating quotes for subcontracted services and material procurement.
  • Manage project resources, including ensuring adequate resources are assigned to the project, monitoring and reporting of man-hours against budget, subcontractor management, and procurement execution and tracking.
  • Manage project finances, ensuring the project's budgeted costs and profits are met or improved, timely and comprehensive change order management, establishment of and maintenance of project cash flows, and facilitating efficient project billing, working within company accounting practices.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules for projects of medium complexity.
  • Understand the requirements of the Power Delivery Quality Control Program and ensure appropriate time, resources, and schedule milestones are included in project planning and adherence during project execution.
  • Administer project documentation, including contracts, documents, invoices, meeting minutes, project reports, and communications.
  • Effectively communicate with the client, project team, and TRC management, including timely and accurate internal and external reporting, executing effective and efficient project meetings, and ensuring communication between all project disciplines.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership and adherence to TRC and client safety policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business, or Construction Management from an accredited school or university.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Project Coordinator or Associate Project Manager; 4 years preferred.
  • Demonstrated communication skills to deal with internal and external clients.
  • Strong attention to detail to quality control projects and submit required deliverables.
  • Experience with appropriate software tools, including Microsoft Office and MS Project.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects of medium complexity.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Project Management, Project Controls, or Construction Management.

Compensation

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation

Employees may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program, which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators, which vary by year and employee.
