Position Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Linux Automation Specialist to contribute to our cutting-edge Research & Development Lab. The successful candidate will possess a strong enthusiasm for automation and infrastructure enhancement, focusing on the design, development, and execution of software solutions and automation processes for our IT systems.

In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, enhance server operating system deployments, and implement automation strategies. You will also develop containerized applications utilizing tools such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, Podman, and Docker. Your expertise in web frameworks like Flask or Django will be essential for creating comprehensive RESTful APIs for end-users and other applications. Additionally, you will engage in hands-on debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to automation workflows. Your contributions will help shape configuration management policies to further optimize operations and support open-source tool development for Linux environments.

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic setting and works effectively with peers and internal teams to identify requirements and innovate new tools and applications. Continuous assessment and enhancement of best practices for IT process automation will be a key expectation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement software solutions and automation workflows for IT systems.
  • Independently create best-practice code for integrating and managing diverse applications with a focus on automation.
  • Deploy production-ready code following industry-standard testing and deployment methodologies.
  • Utilize web frameworks (e.g., Flask or Django) to develop robust RESTful APIs.
  • Document and enhance automation services, ensuring they are responsive and data-driven.
  • Refine server OS deployment and provisioning processes through automation.
  • Support IT applications, including CMDB, ELK stack, and various databases.
  • Contribute to the development of configuration management policies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Engage in hands-on debugging and troubleshooting of automation workflows.
  • Develop tools and automated processes for seamless integration into job scheduling systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate workflows and implement monitoring systems.
  • Champion the adoption of microservices and containerization best practices.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance IT process automation practices.

Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience in IT automation engineering.
  • Proficient in Python and Shell scripting.
  • Extensive knowledge of development best practices, including source control and code reviews.
  • Experience in producing production-ready code with testing and deployment best practices.
  • Skilled in API development (Flask, Django, or similar).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and software testing frameworks.
  • Expertise in managing open-source tools and application stacks on Linux.
  • Proficient in a variety of Linux operating system commands and utilities.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and/or OpenShift.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in designing and developing enterprise-scale software solutions.
  • Proficient in configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
