Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Coordinator I, Peer Specialist to join our team at Mass., Inc. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the principles and practices of strength-based, person-centered services and be able to effectively communicate with individuals of all ages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support, education, and training in recovery tools and techniques to individuals served by DMH or DMH contracted programs.
  • Assist individuals in developing and communicating their personal recovery action plans to the treatment team.
  • Support the development of self-advocacy skills and other strategies that promote recovery.
  • Provide training and consultation to other staff to facilitate an understanding of the perspective of individuals served.
  • Serve as a mentor to promote hope, resiliency, empowerment, and share their own recovery story.
  • Advocate for individuals served by acting as a liaison between them and the community.
  • Transport or assist transportation for individuals served using a state or personal vehicle.
Requirements
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain harmonious working relationships.
  • Capacity to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Maintain creativity and flexibility while working with individuals served.
  • Capable of exercising patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices in strength-based, person-centered services.
  • Knowledge of the organization and function of community mental health programs.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to utilize basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Bilingual or multilingual fluency given the population served.
