Solar Commissioning Technician Job Description

Hypower is seeking a skilled Solar Commissioning Technician to ensure the successful installation and commissioning of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for verifying system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform pre-commissioning checks and inspections of solar PV systems to ensure they meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct functional testing of solar panels, inverters, and other electrical components to verify system performance.
  • Collaborate with installation teams to ensure proper system setup and integration, and troubleshoot technical issues related to solar PV systems.
  • Maintain detailed records of commissioning activities, including test results and inspection reports, to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Provide technical support and training to other team members as needed, and assist in the development and improvement of commissioning procedures and protocols.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in solar PV system installation, maintenance, or commissioning, with a strong understanding of electrical principles and solar PV technology.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings, and proficiency with testing equipment such as multimeters, IV curve tracers, and insulation resistance testers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record, and proficiency in software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Smartsheet's, Procore, Bluebeam.
