About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing financial analysis and management services to support the department's budget and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement budget planning and financial management strategies to ensure effective financial management and reporting.
  • Provide analytical and financial management services to develop budget, prepare reports, perform trend analysis and projections, forecast revenue and expenses using financial and clinical data.
  • Review financial transactions and train staff as needed to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Manage account activities, oversee financial transactions, reconcile accounts, perform journal entries and fund transfers, and ensure adequate records are kept for audit purposes.
  • Resolve a wide range of financial issues in imaginative and practical ways, working on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Ability to independently gather required information to organize and perform financial analysis assignments.
  • Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to function as a member of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Previous experience in an academic setting or private physician office.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of trends in healthcare delivery system, the provision of care, and other emerging issues in healthcare management.
  • Working knowledge of UCI cost accounting standards.
