Fluid Systems Engineer

At Airline Hydraulics, we are seeking a highly skilled Fluid Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a critical role in designing and developing hydraulic systems for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with sales and customers to understand their hydraulic needs and provide solutions that meet their requirements.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, bills of material, and test procedures.
- Analyze customer-supplied specifications and supporting documentation to ensure technical integrity and feasibility of hydraulic systems.
- Design and/or assist in the design of hydraulic power units and fluid systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Evaluate product data and design for conformance to customer requirements, written standards, and specifications.
- Coordinate and prepare design reviews for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Support fabrication shop personnel in troubleshooting complex hydraulic systems and provide technical support as needed.
- Produce drawing documentation, including schematics, general arrangement drawings, and test reports, utilizing AutoCad 2D, Inventor 3D, and Excel.
- Mentor and train other Fluid Systems Engineers and provide product training as required.
Requirements:
- Proficient 3D software skills, preferably with Inventor software.
- Familiarity with hydraulic products and ability to read hydraulic and/or pneumatic schematics.
- Fluid system conception, design, and estimating experience.
- Ability to understand and design low, medium, and high-pressure systems.
- Strong fabrication experience, preferably related to fluid systems and basic weldments.
- Project Management experience.
- Basic electrical knowledge.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively collaborate with Engineering, Sales, and Production personnel.
- Strong desire to become an expert in hydraulic systems and advance along the step proficiency program.
- Must provide hydraulic technical support for sales and power unit shop personnel.
- Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Degree in Engineering Science or a related field (equivalent field experience will be considered in place of a degree).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to estimate acquisition cost vs life cycle cost and associated tradeoffs for various design scenarios.
- Familiarity with standards such as Tier IV, ATEX, ABS, MSA, CE, NFPA, OSHA, ASTM, etc.
- Required overnight travel to customers and branch locations on an as-required basis.
