We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at Police & Fire Federal Credit Union. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our OnPrem Microsoft server systems, Linux Servers, and virtual appliances.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement Windows and Linux server systems, including patching, upgrades, migrations, expansions, system builds, and decommissioning.
- Provide application support for servers, including Exchange, Domain Controllers, SharePoint, SCCM, Certificate Services, and Federated services.
- Configure and maintain DNS and DHCP services, including record types and options, and scope types.
- Perform vulnerability remediation and reporting on Windows and Linux servers, including CVE number representation, finding solutions, and implementing solutions.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell and bash scripting updates, including task Scheduler or Cron jobs.
- Implement and enforce standards throughout OS and documentation.
- Review and maintain daily jobs, including scheduled tasks.
- Provide security and hardening of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Proactively provide management recommendations for budgeting and business plans.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems relating to TCP/IP, certificates, SNMP, AD Joins, while documenting root cause and performing corrective action.
- 5+ years hands-on Microsoft and/or Linux experience (design and implementation).
- 5+ years Windows OS experience as it relates to servers.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Servers and their roles and features.
- Project management skills a must.
- Ability to collaborate with other departments and various levels of management in a constructive manner.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work an OnCall rotation and assist after hours as needed.
- Ability to work varying hours, sometimes includes evening and weekend work.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team setting.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Strong knowledge of SSL/TLS and cryptographic cipher suites and their use.
- Strong knowledge of virtualization, operating systems (Windows and Linux), and networking (including TCP/IP, sockets, and protocols).
- Strong troubleshooting ability.
- Understand best practices and ensure they are adhered to.
