About the Role:

Berry Appleman & Leiden is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Immigration Paralegal to join our team. As an Immigration Paralegal, you will play a critical role in coordinating with attorneys in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of various immigration and nationality law matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of a Senior Paralegal/Attorney, take the lead in client communications, providing guidance on proprietary systems and case processing.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of client communication procedures and requirements.
  • Input client services rendered and sent to accounting for processing.
  • Process advanced and varied corporate immigration cases, evaluating and escalating concerns to the appropriate team members.
  • Prepare forms, letters, documents, and correspondence for attorney review, adapting tools and resources for casework that deviates from templates.
  • Manage the status of all filed applications and petitions, finalizing documents after attorney review.
  • Utilize document and data management systems to prepare, monitor, and record all aspects of client casework as per BAL policy.
  • Prepare internal caseload reports for management.
  • Share process flow with assignees, identifying problematic cases and discussing strategies and/or solutions with Attorney.
  • Perform research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc.
  • Initiate contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information, alerting Senior Paralegal and/or attorney regarding potential process delays/problems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree; 1-year law-related experience under a licensed attorney; or PL certificate from ABA approved program.
  • Typically, at least 1+ year(s) corporate immigration experience.
  • Comfortable and able to thrive in an extremely high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment.
  • Ability to execute and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to catch errors and correct work and the work of others.
  • Superior client service skills.
  • Effectively able to prioritize cases, caseload, and other assigned tasks.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and goals.
  • MS Office, Scan/Copy; learn, apply and effectively navigate daily use of propriety software.
