Job Summary
The Staff Attorney will engage in impact litigation, public policy advocacy, and furthering NIJC's mission. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immigration law and a passion for human rights.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and negotiate cases in accordance with professional standards.
- Assess clients' needs and provide comprehensive legal services.
- Maintain expertise in immigration law and related policies.
- Foster relationships with relevant organizations and communities.
- Uphold ethical standards, ensuring client confidentiality and conflict avoidance.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate Degree required.
- Minimum three years of law practice, preferably in immigration or human rights law.
- Fluency in Spanish (reading, speaking, and writing) required.
Work Environment
The Staff Attorney will work in a hybrid environment, with a mix of in-office and remote work. The ideal candidate will be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time and occasionally move about the office to access filing cabinets and other office equipment.
