In this role, you will support Operations, Sales, and Marketing by facilitating raw material substitutions, identifying cost-saving opportunities, enhancing product quality, and conducting product comparisons. This is an entry-level position reporting directly to the R&D Director of Product Support. Key responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in projects aimed at cost reduction or process enhancement, evaluate new raw materials, and create analytical and mechanical testing methodologies.
  • Collaborate with the Product Support team and plant engineers/quality control managers to establish manufacturing capabilities and procedures for both new and existing products.
  • Engage closely with DAP associates to support sales and marketing efforts through competitive product benchmarking.
  • Conduct plant trials to validate new formulations and raw materials.
  • Perform analytical testing and compile data according to industry standards and internal testing protocols.
  • Advocate for and ensure laboratory safety, cleanliness, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Participate in the Laboratory Quality Management System activities.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • A strong enthusiasm for chemistry, scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and innovative thinking.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • A diverse technical background with a strong desire to learn from colleagues.
  • Demonstrated innovative abilities characterized by risk-taking, results orientation, and integration of ideas.
  • Hands-on experience with various chemistries (such as latex, moisture curing, reactive) in sealants, adhesives, coatings, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with various analytical techniques including wet chemistry, titrations, microscopy, rheology, thermal analysis, and tensile testing.
  • Experience operating laboratory-scale mixing equipment and analytical testing apparatus.
