Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Research Scientist with a strong background in microbiology, specializing in bacterial culturing. The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in biological sciences, a minimum of 10 years of lab experience, and extensive experience with bacterial culturing and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). This role will involve leading advanced research projects related to microbial behavior, growth optimization, and bacterial culture techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct specialized laboratory procedures and experiments, utilizing problem-solving skills to modify when needed.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are calibrated and functioning properly.
  • Lead the creation of protocols and procedures.
Data Collection and Analysis
  • Lead and design research projects focused on bacterial culturing, including isolation, identification, and characterization of bacterial strains.
  • Develop, optimize, and scale up bacterial culture methods to assist in advancing our technology.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate findings into broader research initiatives.
  • Ensure the maintenance of high-quality culture collections and databases of bacterial strains.
  • Analyze experimental data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
Sample Management
  • Prepare, store, and dispose of laboratory samples in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of laboratory supplies, placing orders as needed.
  • Ensure all samples are properly labeled and stored for easy retrieval and analysis.
Safety and Compliance
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and institutional requirements.
Qualifications

Education: Advanced degree in biological sciences.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of work experience in a laboratory setting, with industry experience in addition to academic experience.

Technical Skills: Experience with bacterial culturing and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is a must.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.

Self-Starter: Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with the ability to take initiative in the lab utilizing problem-solving skills.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Time Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills.
