Nuclear Medicine Imaging Specialist

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient imaging services specific to Nuclear Medicine. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure patient safety and provide accurate diagnostic testing in accordance with physician orders. You will be responsible for preparing Nuclear Medicine rooms for patient procedures, developing films, maintaining supply levels, and ensuring equipment meets manufacturer specifications. Additionally, you will operate equipment according to prescribed safety standards and exercise professional, ethical judgment in the performance of diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform quality images through the use of clinical protocols and position patients to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest, respecting patient comfort and ability.
• Demonstrate knowledge to perform Nuclear Medicine procedures through the use of appropriate equipment, develop films in accordance with proper radiographic techniques, and evaluate images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
• Provide patient education on all procedures according to age-specific needs, facilitate patient cooperation, and alleviate anxiety. Verify appropriate procedures to be performed by checking physician orders and contact physicians if there are any discrepancies.
• Ensure all appropriate documentation is completed prior to procedures and provide timely, responsive, expert services to customers in a positive, friendly manner, including patients, physicians, and fellow employees.
Requirements:
• Minimum one (1) year of direct experience in nuclear medicine and one (1) year of experience in a hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required, and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Radiography or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certificate required at hire.
• Basic Life Support required at hire and knowledge and expertise in performing required procedures, communication, interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
