Job Summary

ASARCO LLC is seeking a skilled Mill Repair Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing and maintaining mining and milling equipment, conveyors, hydraulics, pumps, and other related systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic pump repair, including horizontal and vertical pumps.
  • Conduct basic crusher repair, including rebuild, lubrication, and hydraulics repair.
  • Perform basic cutting and welding using 14-inch ARC.
  • Conduct basic cyclone repairs.
  • Perform basic mill lining tasks, including pulling, lifting (up to 50 lbs), squatting, crawling, and walking on uneven surfaces.
  • Install bearings properly.
  • Perform basic pipe fitting and pipe threading of different types of pipe.
  • Rigging abilities, including pulling straps and cables (up to 15 lbs).
  • Conveyor belt adjusting abilities, including pulling (up to 50 lbs).
  • Use come-along hoists properly.
  • Operate power tools safely and effectively.
  • Use torque wrenches, hydraulic jacks, and hand tools correctly.
  • Perform diagnostics to identify equipment issues.
  • Inspect and repair flotation equipment.
  • Work with wet and dry dust collectors.
Requirements
  • Ability to operate a forklift, manlift, hydralifts, and other related equipment.
  • Must have some mechanical repair and/or welding experience on heavy machinery.
  • Basic cutting and welding abilities.
  • Basic pipe fitting abilities, including pipe threading and working with different types of pipe.
  • Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs, and carry tools up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to reach, lift, and hold overhead approximately 50 lbs.
  • Ability to swing a 20-lb hammer.
  • Ability to work in cramped areas, on heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in high temperatures and humidity levels (inside a mill, summertime).
  • Basic ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Ability to use precision tools.
  • Ability to understand schematics.
  • Lubrication and oil knowledge.
  • Trunnion bearing replacements.
  • Must successfully pass the first-class or second-class repairman test and welding test to be considered.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
