Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is a vital member of our team at Redwood Family Care Network, providing exceptional care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As an LVN, you will be responsible for assisting with the coordination of home care services, ensuring the health and safety needs of our residents are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications to individuals, adhering to the five rights for verification purposes.
  • Attend residents' doctor appointments and address any concerns or changes with the attending physician.
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living, such as bathing, cleaning, preparing meals, grooming, cooking, and cleaning.
  • Assess residents' and participants' wounds, help with dressing changes and breathing treatments as needed.
  • Audit all medications during a new medication cycle and verify the five rights.
  • Perform g-tube insertions for feeding individuals.
  • Perform colostomy care for individuals.
  • Perform intramuscular injections.
  • Perform diabetes insulin medication injections for individuals.
  • Evaluate residents' and participants' level of consciousness, neurological factors, and responsiveness post-seizure or traumatic episodes.
  • Redirect in the event of a behavioral episode and continue to support and listen to individuals' needs.
  • Complete and update client notes system daily. Observe and report any unusual behaviors and injuries to ensure both the Behavior Consultant and Administrator are informed.
  • Assess and identify signs and symptoms of infections (early and late signs).
  • Perform basic physical reviews, including checking vital signs and conducting head-to-toe assessments.
  • Participate in community outing events with individuals, such as hiking, going to the beach, and other leisure activities.
Requirements:
  • 1 year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse License (required).
  • Must have First Aid/CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certifications.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a California Driver's License.
  • Candidate must successfully pass all pre-employment requirements, including a background check.
Work Environment:
