Clausen House is a registered charitable institution providing housing, wellness programs, and advocacy for developmentally disabled adults in Oakland and the surrounding East Bay area.

We support 200 adults with developmental disabilities and deliver a life-enhancing array of services that enables our clients to live, work, socialize, and thrive to their fullest potential.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Residential Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will oversee overall residential services in a group home for developmentally disabled adults.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Care: Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of clients, monitor and address any concerns promptly.
  • Service Delivery: Implement Individualized Placement Plans (IPPs) and ensure compliance with Clausen House policies and procedures.
  • Communication: Maintain regular communication with staff, family members, case managers, and other involved parties.
  • Staff Management: Interview, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Professional Development: Arrange for ongoing training and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports as required by Executive Director and regulatory bodies.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure policies, procedures, and practices are in compliance with Community Care Licensing and Department of Developmental Services regulations.
  • Expense Management: Monitor and manage controllable expenses such as overtime, telephone, and house supplies.
  • Transportation: Provide transportation for clients as needed.
  • Health Coordination: Coordinate health needs of residents with Residential Services Coordinator, physicians, pharmacies, and family members.
  • Safety and Maintenance: Oversee the physical environment of the assigned house to ensure safety, maintenance, and sanitation standards are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Business, Psychology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience working directly with developmentally disabled individuals, preferably adults.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Residential Administrator certification.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and administrative experience combined with knowledge of principles of staff development and motivating others.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's license with safe driving record, and ability to drive clients to appointments.
  • Possession of sufficient physical stamina to assist clients with activities of daily living.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Criminal record clearance.
  • Obtain and maintain current First Aid and CPR certificates.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

  • Endurance: Frequent movement around the residence, client transport, and climbing stairs.
  • Strength: Some sedentary work, bending, lifting, and squatting with objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Climbing: Daily ascending and descending stairs.
  • Location: Predominantly indoors, protected from weather conditions and temperature changes.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $70,000-$90,000 depending on experience.
