Electrical Maintenance Technician Job Description

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our facility maintenance team in Jacksonville, FL. As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the operation, care, and advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of low voltage (up to 480 volts) and medium voltage (up to 15 kV) electrical distribution systems and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a variety of electrical equipment, controls, and systems, including facilities electrical power and lighting infrastructure and site low and medium voltage utilities systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and repairs on all electrical systems and equipment, instruments, PLC and Motor control systems, VFD drives, lighting, and power systems.
  • Develop and implement work plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
  • Analyze problems, recommend solutions, and initiate repairs to ensure minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and maintenance teams to ensure seamless maintenance operations and share knowledge and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, new technologies, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Five years of experience performing electrical maintenance in an industrial environment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer experience (word, excel, CMMS).
  • Knowledgeable of the National Electric Code NFPA -70.
  • Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent trade school or apprenticeship program in industrial electrical or a related skilled trade.
  • Experience as an industrial facilities maintenance electrician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledgeable of the requirements of NFPA 70E.
  • 2+ years of experience in a lead technician role that included developing, mentoring, and/or coaching lower-level technicians.
