Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Collection Systems Supervisor to join our team at the City of Jeffersonville. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating the operation and maintenance of our wastewater collection system and sewage lift stations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise subordinate collection system operators to ensure proper operation and maintenance of the collection system and lift stations.
  • Plan, assign, and schedule assignments and duty schedules.
  • Provide job and safety training to subordinate operators.
  • Monitor and document performance, prepare evaluations, and recommend employee recognition and corrective action.
  • Address customer complaints and resolve problems.
  • Assume responsibility for direct supervision of all collection system staff in the absence of the Manager.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal or informal education or training in wastewater collections, treatment, or a related field.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a sewer collection system, wastewater treatment, and/or water distribution system.
  • Supervisory experience or training is highly desirable.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions, climb ladders, operate a variety of manual and power tools, and read meters/pumps/gauges/mixers and check clearances on pumps and other related equipment.
