About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist II to join our team at VCU Health. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up sterile fields and gather supplies for surgical cases, utilizing your knowledge of instruments and equipment.
  • Pass instruments to surgeons during surgery, maintaining a high level of precision and attention to detail.
  • Perform count procedures per policy during surgical cases, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Serve as a resource and preceptor to less experienced Surgical Technologists, providing guidance and support.
  • Take call for routine and high acuity cases after the orientation period, demonstrating your ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
Requirements
  • Registered by the State Board of Medicine and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) or Certified Operating Room or Surgical Technician (CORST).
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a Surgical Technologist or related scrub tech position.
  • Preferred experience: 2 years as a surgical technologist or related scrub technician position.
