Job Title: Chief of Staff
Location: Washington DC - Remote | Periodic Travel Required

LaunchTech is a technology solutions provider serving federal and state governments and the commercial sector. We’re on the hunt for a Chief of Staff with federal government contracting experience who is not only confident in their abilities but also passionate about driving our mission forward. This role is focused on managing the essential support of President & CEO and back-office functions that keep our company operations running smoothly. Must currently have an active security clearance (Secret or above) or be eligible to obtain one

This is a remote position with periodic travel required to LaunchTech offices, customer sites, project locations, and events.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Operational Leadership & Excellence:
    • Support the President and CEO in the execution of company strategic vision and serve as the gatekeeper for correspondence and scheduling.
    • Oversee daily operations of the business, ensuring all back-office functions are executed efficiently and effectively.
    • Develop, implement, evaluate, and monitor operational systems that provide clear visibility into goals, progress, and obstacles for critical projects.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and uphold organizational policies and standards.
    • Assist with obtaining and maintaining company certifications at the national, federal, and state levels.
    • Maintain quality assurance standards such as ISO, CMMI, and CMMC, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
  2. HR & People Operations:
    • Work with HR and the PM team to create outreach events to foster a culture of inclusion ensuring a supportive and empowering work environment for all employees.
    • Maintain a deep understanding of federal government contracting jargon and processes related to staffing and HR.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
    • Act as a liaison between departments and the CEO, ensuring alignment of operational activities with the company’s strategic goals.
    • Develop and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, fostering partnerships that support LaunchTech's growth.
    • Champion transparent communication and cross-functional collaboration to support a high-performance culture.
  4. Change Management & Continuous Improvement:
    • Lead and manage significant projects and change initiatives, ensuring they align with the company’s operational goals.
    • Advocate for and implement change management strategies that enhance organizational agility and growth.
  5. Financial Oversight & Budgeting:
    • Collaborate with the CEO on operational budgeting decisions, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
    • Monitor key performance metrics to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of operational tasks.
Necessary Skills for Success:
  • Leadership & Operational Vision: Proven ability to oversee and improve daily operations, with a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of mission.
  • Government Contracting Expertise: A variety of experience with federal government contracting, including a strong grasp of the relevant jargon.
  • Financial & Budgeting Experience: Experience in financial oversight and budgeting enables effective resource management and informed decision-making.
  • Relationship Management: Excel at managing and expanding relationships with stakeholders, ensuring alignment and common goals.
  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional communication skills enable engagement and influence at all levels, fostering transparency and collaboration.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Proactive and analytical, always looking for ways to identify and solve business challenges.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, finance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent years of relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in a related field, with a strong focus on supporting internal operations at a federal government contractor.
  • Certifications: SPHR, SHRM-SCP, and/or PMP certification is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in technology or high-growth entrepreneurial companies is highly desirable.
  • US Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Security Clearance: Must either possess an active security clearance (Secret or above) or be eligible to obtain one.
